Dr. Oz Prescribes Meditation to Reduce Heart Disease Risk

Last month, heart surgeon and TV show host Dr. Mehmet Oz spoke at a fundraising benefit in New York City, where he addressed meditation’s vast health benefits, including its ability to reduce the three main risk factors for heart disease (the leading cause of death in Western world): high cholesterol, high levels of insulin, and high blood pressure.

We watched the following video from Dr. Oz’s presentation, and were so inspired that we added regular meditation to our list of New Year’s resolutions. (We figure it’s never too late to make a positive change!) The six-minute video is well worth watching, as we found it to be one of the most solid, visceral arguments for meditation yet.
