On Movement

“Move a muscle, change a feeling.” -Anonymous

We’ve had a ton of snow in Northern Michigan this week, blanketing our little corner of the world with beautiful layers of white. The first snowfalls of the season are always exciting, especially for those who love to ski, snowshoe, sled, or go for snowy walks in the woods (or while shopping). It’s certainly not breaking news that exercise releases endorphins, which causes us to feel happier and less stressed and/or depressed—so when we find ourselves feeling less than inspired to get moving on particularly cold, gray days, it’s good to know that even just a short, brisk walk or a few minutes of stretching is all that’s needed to lift our spirits.

Our meditation for the weekend is to keep in mind the joy that movement can bring.
